The Journal of the National Cancer Institute recently published a study linking the use of chemical hair straighteners or hair relaxers with a an increased risk of uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, and endometriosis.
These products have been found to contain Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (sometimes called EDCs) including parabens, phthalates and even chemical fragrances.
These chemicals disrupt one's endocrine system, which is the system our bodies use to control hormones. This can result in increased risk of the cancers listed above.
